Psychotherapy
We understand that patterns from our childhood become templates for our behaviors and relationships today. Why do we choose the people we choose- choice or habit?
It takes time and effort to get to know and understand yourself. Most people are so hard on themselves thinking that this will make them better, more successful. Being hard on yourself makes you miserable. No achieved goal is ever enough. Most importantly is to have compassion for yourself when you fall short and treat yourself with love and respect.
Psychotherapy is a creative, intimate process of working together to identify strengths, desires and goals to navigation the life you want to live and how you want to show up in relationships. Psychotherapy uncovers what holds you back, what obstacles you encounter. How fear and anxiety will keep you stuck, and why that may be oddly appealing. Sometimes people fear that moving on will isolate them. It is hard to take a leap if you are not sure where you are going.
Therapy provides another to listen to you and together we can identify patterns, find space in tight places. Often saying something out loud feels relieving.
People often say that they want to be happy and avoid uncomfortable feelings. No one is happy all of the time. The more you can feel difficult feelings the more you will be able to feel joy. Feeling all of your feelings is a gift you can give yourself.
“Your problem is how to spend this one and precious life you have been issued. Whether you’re going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are.”
